The CCoDP has
conducted a Workshop on Joint Plan to strengthen the networking among
organizations.
The CCoDP has been
accredited to the United Nations AD Hoc
Committee in the year 2005.
CCoDP had upgraded the
sewing section with modern machineries to maximize the quality of the products.
Launched the
International Fair Trade logo to
Sri Lanka with the collaboration with the Fair Trade Network.
In 2004 CCoDP has
awarded
the
DIRIJAYA AWARD 2004 by Charted
Management Institute, UK (Sri Lanka branch) for achievements in the
field of enterprise development

In 2002 CCoDP has
received a Commendation certificate from the Dubai Municipality and
UNCSDHA.
In
March 2000 the CCoDP has set up a Research and Development Unit with
financial assistance from the United Nations Voluntary Fund on
Disability. This is to conduct research on related matters with
disabilities and rehabilitation programs. It also acted as a source of
information for any one interested on the subject. There is no similar
source for information in Sri Lanka.
The
Environmental Development Program is funded by
AusAID. Constructed a security hut and fence on the land owned by the
CCoDP, to prepare it for a large-scale agricultural/environmental
project.
Low cost wheel chair production is a successful income generating event
at the CCoDP. The project was funded by the
Ceylon-Direkthilfe Organization, Germany and the European
Commission.
The Women's Development program was created using
own
funds.
Later this section is turned to a separate organization called FIWD.
This program was established to train
/
employ
disabled
persons
in wheelchair
building, timber craft, garment and furniture manufacturing. This was
funded by the
Ceylon-Direkthilfe Organization, Germany
and number of foreign embassies in Sri Lanka.
This
program
is
continuous, as it is essential to encourage and empower the disable to
take part in different levels of the society to integrate the as equals.
Funding
is
from own sources.
The
centre was set up to teach disabled people how to become self-sufficient
through the development of
vocational
skills. This project was funded by
foreign embassies in Sri Lanka.
Set
up to assist disabled people with appropriate
mobility aids at affordable cost.
This
building was to house two hostels for male and female and to the office
complex. Funds were from the British High Commission, Canada Fund and
Ceylon-Direkthilfe Organization, Germany.
Funding
was from Cardinal Leger and his Endeavors of Canada through the Sri
Lanka Canada Development Fund.
Number of families benefited was 19,040. Number of involved villages was
710. It is mainly to focus of empowerment of the rural disabled
community.
This was started in five grama divisions with association of the School
of Social Services, Sri Lanka. This was mainly to learn how to cater
needs of large number of disabled persons. Number of people surveyed was
9885. We were able to confirm the disabled population as 7.4% below 45
years of age. This project was helped us a lot to learn how to integrate
the disabled effectively as equals.
This
meeting was run in collaboration with the World Health Organization and
with funding from the Norwegian Aid Agency (NORAD) to prepare guidelines
for local, national and international organizations and governments.
Number of participated foreign experts are 34 from different countries.
This
training program was
to
develop leadership qualities of leaders of organisation of the disabled.
Initial project was funded by NORAD.
Launched
the very first pilot project to identify possibilities of implementing a
secondary level of a joint CBR project with the school of social
service.
The
National Convention was to formulate a plan of action to empower the
disabled. All the national level organizations were participated.
Funding from CCoDP enterprises section.
This was to identify possible leaders and also to develop the
membership.
Established the Foundation for Independence of the Disabled. Starting
capital was from the compensation received from the government to Raja
Marasinghe for his injuries, while he was in the University. He was
assaulted by the communal extremist in the North.
