Objective of the Inter-provincial cricket program is to develop cricket at provincial level. This kicked off with the provincial Cricket tournament which features five provinces, Basnahira-North, Basnahira-South, Kandurata, Ruhuna and Wayamba. Tournament consists of twenty-twenty, fifty over and a test series planned for a year. Twenty-twenty and fifty over matches were held early this year and test series is to be held.
E-WIS joined this program with the aim of empowering Sri Lanka’s most beloved game, Cricket. The company treats this program as a part of their CSR initiative which discovers, develops and manages upcoming cricketers at regional level.
Apart from the Basnahira-North province sponsored by E-WIS, Basnahira–South has also got the backing of E-WIS where it’s sponsored by Lexmark which is a subsidiary of
E-WIS Group.
The Centre Manager of Basnahira-North Mr. Anura De Silva added “This inter-provincial program is very critical when it comes to the future of Sri Lankan Cricket. Success of this program will reproduce the likes of Aravinda, Murali and Jayasooriya to take Sri Lankan cricket forward.”
Basnahira-South centre sponsored by Lexmark will be the next centre to be opened in Panadura and SLC authorities announced that they are in the process of finalizing infrastructural facilities at the centre so that it could be opened soon.
